BJ Stabler was recently named Director of Athletic Development for Kansas City Athletics, bringing experience with both professional football and collegiate athletics.
The objective of the director of athletic development is to focus on fundraising and cultivating donors to support student-athletes
Kyndall Ellis-Powell previously filled the position.
Stabler steps into the role of director of athletic development as Kansas City Athletics continues to grow steadily. Powell leaves a “momentum” that Stabler will work to maintain and build on.
“Kyndall Ellis-Powell…did an outstanding job of creating relationships and laying the foundation for success in this role,” said Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Communications Jerod Fox. “To maintain that momentum, we needed someone that was ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work, and BJ fit the bill.”
Stabler’s past work includes serving as Director of A-Club Alumni at the University of Alabama. In that position, Stabler grew alumni engagement to more than 4,500 former student-athletes, along with supporting all 21 varsity sports at the University of Alabama.
“My professional journey has been rooted in sports administration, athlete development and strategic relationship building,” Stabler said.
Before working with the University of Alabama, Stabler worked in the Player Engagement department with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs for eight seasons.
“That experience allowed me to see firsthand how professional sports organizations build brand equity, cultivate donor and corporate relationships, and impact a city on a national stage,” said Stabler.
By growing donor relationships and creating a bigger engagement from alumni, it is hoped to lead to Kansas City Athletics being both part of campus and also the city. Stabler is the person who will be working towards that goal.
“He will play an integral role in making valuable connections and ensuring that the city is in full support of Kansas City’s College Team.” Said Fox.
