UMKC no longer offers free parking on weekends

Permits or metered parking is required at all times.

A metered parking sign in the Oak Street Parking Garage. Many spots in the lot are metered which limits students who already bought permits and don’t want to pay an additional fee.

UMKC parking is no longer free on the weekends starting Monday, Oct 20.

This new policy is active due to the KC Streetcar’s Main Street Extension bringing more traffic to campus.

Student permits will not be affected by this change; however, visitors and non-permit holders must use metered parking or purchase a daily permit at the UMKC parking portal.

“We understand this is a change from past practice and appreciate your cooperation. UMKC remains committed to making campus access safe, equitable and efficient for all,” said the administration in a press release.
