Businesses across the United States and Kansas City are offering incentives to individuals who get the COVID-19 vaccine.

In an effort to encourage the population to get vaccinated, businesses are offering perks and rewards when a customer presents their vaccination card. Some of these offerings include free vaccine card lamination, buy one get one burgers and free donuts everyday for the rest of 2021.

UMKC student Sabrina Bentz plans on claiming her rewards because she wants to support businesses that encourage vaccinations.

“I definitely will take advantage of these offers,” Bentz said. “I feel more loyalty to businesses who are willing to pay for [or] encourage vaccinations.”

In Kansas City, two local businesses have announced rewards for fully vaccinated customers.

Westport Flea market & Grill

Located in the heart of Westport, the restaurant announced they will offer a buy one get one free burger deal for dine-in customers with at least one dose of the Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines. This offer is good through the end of the year. Joe Zwillengberg, the owner of Westport Flea Market, told KSHB that the restaurant has supported the city throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so.

Up-Down arcade bar

Located in the crossroads, Up-Down will offer 20 free tokens to customers who visit the arcade at least 21 days after receiving their final vaccination dose. The offer is available throughout the summer. This establishment is open for individuals ages 21 and up.

Up-Down’s communications manager, David Hayden, said this is an effort to thank everyone who has gotten their vaccine and taken the steps to bring life and the restaurant industry back to normal.

“After all the excitement and anticipation to get the vaccine, the actual experience seemed almost anti-climactic.” Hayden said in an interview with KMBC, “ You want to celebrate it, and we want to give people a chance to do that.”

Many national businesses are also offering free or discounted products and services for vaccinated customers.

Office Depot is offering to laminate vaccination cards in every store nationwide using the provided code: 52516714. This offer ends on July, 25.

Staples will also offer a free service to laminate vaccination cards, this offer is extended until May 1.

Krispy Kreme Donuts announced they will offer a free glazed doughnut a day to customers with proof of vaccination for the rest of 2021.
