Travis Scott x McDonald’s meal review

Travis+Scott+x+McDonald%E2%80%99s+meal+review

The Travis Scott burger from McDonald’s seems like it is going to be the next Popeye’s chicken sandwich.

There are countless videos online of people pulling up to the drive-thru window, playing “SICKO MODE” and ordering the Houston rapper’s signature meal. For $6, you get a Quarter Pounder with lettuce and bacon, fries, and, of course, Sprite. Oh, and don’t forget the barbecue sauce.

The collaboration, a meme as much as it is a meal, is one of the weirdest I can remember, but I’m definitely not upset about it. One of the biggest musicians in the world linking up with one of the biggest restaurant chains in the world seems a little odd but understandable. Travis has already collaborated with Fortnite, Hot Wheels and Reese’s Puffs cereal. It’s not surprising that he wanted to add to that list and work with one of the most recognizable brands in the world.

I’m a pretty big fan of Travis Scott myself, so I knew that I had to get my hands on one of these burgers. But before anything else, I should say that I don’t think McDonald’s food is that bad. They definitely don’t have the best burgers, but they’re not terrible. To put it in perspective against a few other major fast-food chains, I would say they have better food than Burger King, but aren’t as good as Wendy’s.

With all of that being said, the Travis Scott burger is pretty good from a fast-food standard. I was surprised by how much the bacon and lettuce add to the standard Quarter Pounder, which is something that I haven’t had in years. I didn’t realize lettuce isn’t standard for the burger. I love lettuce on burgers, so the addition of the greens just added to the overall taste. The fries come with a side of barbecue sauce, which I opted to use on my burger instead. I think that’s what made the whole meal for me. The sauce isn’t comparable to Gates, Joe’s or Q39 – the standards here in Kansas City – but something about adding it to the burger made it even better. The fries and Sprite were the same as always, so there isn’t much to be said there.

I went to McDonald’s for the first time in three or four months to get my hands on the collaborative meal. My trip was worth the money, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get the meal again. I’m glad I tried it and was able to see what the hype is all about, but overall, I would give the Travis Scott burger a 6.5/10. It’s no Hayes Hamburgers or Town Topic, but for $6, it’s pretty good. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more collaborations like this in the future from other musicians and fast-food chains.

In the words of Travis Scott, it’s lit.
