The Kansas City Roos men’s basketball team made history against Calvary in Monday night’s win.
With the final score being 119-19, Kansas City set the record for the largest win margin in school history.
The Roos dominated in every part of the game, but it was the defense that really stood out. The team didn’t let Calvary reach 10 points as a team until the second half.
“I wanted to make sure the guys didn’t take them lightly,” said head coach Marvin Menzies. “You have to play for the respect of the game, and I thought our guys did that.”
What’s even more impressive is the fact that Kansas City won in such blowout fashion without their starting point guard Davontae Hall. Hall was under the weather for Monday night’s game, but should be back soon.
The Roos were also very dominant on the rebounds, out-rebounding Calvary 56 to 27.
Kansas City was led by senior guard Jamar Brown on the night. He scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Senior forward Cameron Faas was also a big factor. Faas had 17 points and only missed one shot all night. He also had 4 steals.
Sophomore guard Jayson Petty was very important, scoring 16 points and had 6 rebounds as well.
Junior guard Zack Markus played the most minutes he has played so far this season. He played 17 minutes and scored 5 points on the night.
“Zack is a guy I love to coach,” Coach Menzies said. “He did a good job of running the offense and on the defensive side as well.”
