Family Weekend was sentimental for sophomore chemistry and biology major Natalie Till as she prepares to study abroad in Australia next year.
Elisa Till, Natalie’s mother, traveled from St. Louis to spend time with Natalie Till before her study abroad down under.
“She’s my biggest supporter, and she’s my bestie,” said Natalie Till.“I love her.”
Supporting her daughter is her mother’s top priority. Elisa Till was first to mention Natalie Till’s big trip.
“She just had to say it,” Natalie Till said sarcastically. Elisa Till talks about Natalie Till’s trip any chance she can get.
“I did have to say it,” her mother responded. “I am so excited for her.”
They were looking forward to spending time with each other at a paint-along event, meeting Natalie Till’s friends and boyfriend and showing their university pride.
Natalie Till originally wanted to attend an out-of-state school.
“I wanted to get as far away from home as possible,” says Natalie Till. “Not because I don’t love my mom, that’s just the kind of person I am.”
Eventually, she decided on UMKC because it felt far away enough without the high prices of out-of-state tuition.
She was drawn to UMKC for its science programs because she is pursuing a degree in biology and chemistry.
“I think it’s great,” Elisa Till said about her daughter choosing UMKC.
Natalie Till’s mother has visited for family weekend every year since Natalie Till began attending school. With Natalie Till’s trip approaching, this mother-daughter combo wanted to get as much time together as they could.
