The UMKC men took their second shutout in a row, taking a 1-0 win over Missouri State at Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreational Field (DSSRF). Junior Diego Rojas scored UMKC’s single goal, while senior Ken Cooper nabbed three saves.
On Saturday, the men finished with a 1-1 draw versus Loyola Chicago. The first half went scoreless until Junior Jimmy Simon put UMKC up one in the 58th minute. But UMKC couldn’t hold the lead when Loyola scored nine minutes later.
On Friday, the women dropped a match against Indiana State 2-1. The loss puts the women at 0-5 for the season. Freshman Taylor Bare scored UMKC’s one goal in a penalty kick near the end of the second half.
On Saturday night the women went up against North Dakota State. The women dropped the match three sets to one. After two sets, the women were down two. But set three was owned by UMKC 25-23. Junior Nicole Kirkman finished with 27 digs, one away from her career high.
The team competed in the Missouri Cross Country Challenge on Saturday. There were nine top 25 finishes in the meet. The women finished third and the men finished fourth.
The women competed at the Wolverine Invitational this past weekend. Sophomore Taylor Fisher led the Roos on Saturday with a 155 (78-77) after two 18 hole rounds of play, placing her in 28th place for the day.
