The UMKC SGA unanimously confirmed Morgan Parker and Colin Rohach as associate justices of the SGA Supreme Court on Feb. 8 at their student senate meeting.
The internal affairs committee conducted candidate interviews prior to Monday night’s meeting and voted to endorse both candidates, said Internal Affairs Committee Chair Bosten Arcand.
Parker is a second year law student, and this will be her second term on the court.
“I worked with the court last year and I felt like I did a good job of upholding and interpreting the constitution and making sure that our ideas are in clear language so that all students, not just law students, can understand our decisions and how the process works,” said Parker.
Rohach is pursuing a law degree and an MBA from the Bloch School of Management. Like Parker, he also served on the court last year. He said that he likes that the Supreme Court acts as a third-party impartial council to resolve disputes across campus.
“It gives students a chance to practice being judges, which is an interesting opportunity,” said Rohach.
