Good vibes only: Westport pop-up promotes fun

When most people think of Westport, they usually picture dive bars, crazy crowds and late-night clubbing.

Courtney Callegari, however, is bringing a new type of fun for the Westport crowd: the Museum of Good Vibes.

“All of our exhibits are designed to be really interactive,” Callegari said of her DIY-space. “We don’t just have backdrops.”

The pop-up museum started in Lawrence, where it stayed for about a month and a half. Callegari and her team of artists, architects and graphic designers recently decided to move the exhibit back to her hometown of Kansas City for a special Valentine’s Day pop-up, open until Feb. 14.

The space itself is a quaint little spot, decorated as though Cupid’s bow struck right through it. There’s a ball pit with inflatable flamingos, a wall decorated with Marie Antoinette-esque flowers, disco-balls hanging from the ceiling and even an adult-sized seesaw.

The space is inspired by similar pop-ups that Callegari saw while visiting the West Coast.

“I think there’s something to be said that there isn’t that kind of stuff [pop-ups] here. People want it! There’s nothing that’s different about the people in Kansas City that the people in L.A. would want,” Callegari said. “We want this kind of stuff just as much as they would.”

The museum is an immersive experience that’s designed to let each person be as creative as they want.

Each station within the pop-up is a personal photo shoot waiting to happen, with confetti on the floor and a forest made of streamers hanging from the ceiling.

All of the exhibits were designed by Callegari and her team, and it’s well worth the hype.

The pop-up is a fun way to get closer with friends and loved ones, and there’s only one rule: “no bad vibes.”

The Museum of Good Vibes is located in the Westport Event Space. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for kids 10 and under. Reserve online at
