Four Roos achieve all-time, top five track marks

The track & field Roos recorded top-five marks in school history, as well as nine personal bests in the K.T. Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kan.Sophomores Shanelle Williams and Jazmine Cooper led the Roos. In the 100-meter hurdles, Williams’ personal best time of 14.48 earned her an 8th place., Cooper placed 6th in the triple jump with a personal best of 11.87 meters. Each mark was third best in UMKC history.

The Roos’ 4×400 relay team of Danielle Olive, Angel Gannon, Chelsea Richardson and Williams placed 3rd with a time of 3:57.71. Gannon placed 6th in the 800-meter relay with a time of 2:18.10.Sophomore Michelle Momo placed 9th in the 200-meter event with 25.58.

For the women’s long-jump, Coopers’ mark of 5.60 meters earned her 5th place, while Momo took 10th with 5.50 meters. Richardson’s triple-jump mark of 11.23 was also a personal best.

Junior Susan Brueggeman placed 4th in the shot-put with 12.84 meters, fourth best in UMKC history. Senior Denise Banda achieved the fifth-best hammer-throw in school history with mark of 49.35 meters for 8th place.

For the men, Ramon Nelson placed 7th in the hammer-throw with 50.00 meters. Sophomore Kris Leverette took 10th with a mark of 47.64 meters.

The track & field Roos will now compete on April 18-21 at the KU Relays in Lawrence, Kan., and also at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.
