As mid-term exams come to a close and spring break finally rears its head, UMKC students are ready to relax and recharge by binge-watching their favorite series during the week-long break.
Those on campus shared what they were going to be binging to refresh their minds post-exams, and their favorite snacks or activities to pair with.
Katie Hurd, a sophomore theater performance and creative writing major, said that for spring break, she is planning on catching up on her favorite TV shows.
“I’ll probably just rewatch some shows,” said Hurd. “My brain is too busy to take in any new shows.”
Hurd said she’s currently rewatching “Banana Fish”, which doubles as an 80s mafia drug mystery anime, and her favorite show. She defines herself as a binge watcher, and that she hates watching TV with friends, but loves watching with popcorn.
For spring break Kyra Davidson, a sophomore majoring pre-law and political science, loves watching horror shows and thriller series. She looks forward to watching the recently released “Adolescence” on Netflix.
“Everyone has been talking about it,” said Davidson. She also plans on watching “Dark,” which is on Netflix too.
Alexa Omorodion, a freshman criminal justice and criminology major, said her favorite relaxing show is the “Regular Show.”
“I have shows that I watch in the background,” said Omorodion. “Then I have shows to watch to relax, and that’s one of them.”
Preston Santo, a sophomore biology major, has “American Idol” on his need-to-watch list during spring break.
“ I like music, and they switch the judges around,” said Santo. “By the looks of it, it’s gonna be fun. It’s gonna be a good season.”
Santo also said that he planned to join in on the medical drama train, watching “Grey’s Anatomy,” and that he enjoys “a good thing of oreos” with cherry pepsi during shows.
Gwendolyn Joslin, a self-dubbed “quasi-senior” in environmental studies, doesn’t watch TV, but is looking forward to spring break to rewatch some movies. She prefers to read or draw while doing so.
Joslin names “The Princess Bride,” any Studio Ghibli movie and a new Korean drama called “Newtopia” to her upcoming rotation. “Newtopia” is one she is excited about.
“It’s basically like a zombie apocalypse slash love story, and they fake you out thinking it’s gonna be silly and cute, but the last couple episodes have been brutal. It releases every Friday on Amazon Prime Video,” said Joslin.
