Not your everyday girl!

I am not your everyday girl. I do not like to wear dresses all the time, I prefer flip-flops to high heels, and I truly dislike makeup.

I was raised wearing girly outfits with my hair in ponytails or pigtails and even curled.

You will not find me in these things now, unless I just throw my hair in a bun and call it a day.

My outfit of choice: T-shirt and blue jeans, and maybe sweats if I can get away with it. I just don’t like dressing up other than special occasions.

Being a girl is too much work sometimes. To have to make your hair perfect, put makeup on and suffer all day with high heels.

No, thank you. It’s just not for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a woman, I just don’t feel the extra work is necessary.

Now and then I do dress up if I feel like it. I will put on a decent outfit and a little makeup. It all depends on the mood. I’m not going to do this daily but I do enjoy this self-pampering every once in a while.

I don’t like all the extra girly things women do to themselves every day.

But one thing I will not go without are my fingernails. I won’t go through putting on makeup or dressing up daily, but I will do my nails every two weeks, and sometimes I change the polish in between time. I do them myself and it doesn’t cost me anything extra.

I love going to the nail shop, but it’s far too expensive for a “broke” college student.

Yes, I will have my nails done all the time. You wouldn’t catch me dead without them. I go to work with them, I clean the house (or dorm) with them and even work on my car with them. I can pretty much do anything with my nails.

I do all types of designs, colors, textures and even lengths. If I had enough time, I would coordinate my colors daily.

But that is simply a little too much work– like that whole makeup thing.

So, like I said, I’m not your average girl. I hate the extra girly things women do to themselves, but I do love my nails.

I work on cars, I work at Pam’s Chicago Style Dogs and More, where we deal with a lot of greasy foods.

Oh, the little habits some women have, but that is a story for another day.
