UMKC encourages continued, intellectual growth in its students and the Kansas City community. This week, Sept. 10-12, the UMKC community can watch TEDMED streamed live in the Bloch Executive Hall. The TED conference has become extremely popular.
TED describes itself as “a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world.”
TED speaks on a wide variety of topics at conferences, but TEDMED is dedicated to discussing groundbreaking topics and information in health and medicine.
TEDMED will entertain speeches in nine sessions:
Session 1- Turn it Upside Down
Session 2- We Just Don’t Know
Session 3- Flat Out Amazing
Session 4- Stealing Smart
Session 5- Don’t You Dare Talk About This
Session 6- Play is Not a Waste of Time
Session 7-Human Nature Inside and Out
Session 8-Weird and Wonderful
Session 9- I Was Just Thinking Too Small
Each session features up to six speakers who will present topics in health and medicine in a unique, innovative way. TED selected each session’s speakers based on direct experience within the medical community. This year’s TEDMED conference aims to help viewers think of medicine in a creative way.
Those who wish to attend the Bloch School’s airing of TEDMed do not need to register. The event is open to the public, and seats will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The Bloch School is located on 5108 Cherry St.
